Dilip Kale is a performing instrumentalist and plays the Santoor. He is a senior disciple of the legendary musician, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. In Dilip’s hands, the Santoor emotes expressions making the strings come alive, striking lasting cords with his audience.  

Over the last three decades, Dilip has been enthralling his audiences through live solo and jugalbandi performances of Indian Classical and Light Classical Music at prestigious national and international music festivals. 

Some of Dilip’s memorable performances include ‘Teen Prahar music festival’ organized by Banyan Tree Events at Nehru centre, Mumbai; Sankatmochan Music Festival, Banaras; Gurubhakti festival at Sharda Sangeet Sabha, Mumbai, Gunijan Baithak at Mumbai and Nagpur organized by Pancham Nishad; Silsila Santoor Ka organized by HMV-SaReGaMa at Pune; Sanskar Bharati, Pune; Pune Festival, Pune; Pune Music Society, Pune; DITI Festival, Singapore, Swarzankar music festival, Aurangabad & Pune; Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan, Mumbai, Vithall-Rukhmini Mohotsav, Pandharpur; Osho International Commune, Pune; Precision Sangeet Samaroha, Solapur; Shri Guru Sharanam Sangeet Samaroh, Pune; Ganesh Jayanti festival at Sarasbag, Pune; Vande Vinayakam Sangeet Samaroha organized by the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune; Prabhudev Sardar Sangeet Samaroha, Solapur; Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Samaroha, Kundgol, etc. 

Dilip has had the privilege and honor to co-perform with his Guruji, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma in a few prestigious music festivals. He also holds the unique distinction of rendering the santoor and recreating the music Shivji played in the films by performing in the programs of film music in the presence of Guruji. Blessed with the opportunity to celebrate the maestro’s contributions to music in a series of live talk shows, Dilip designed the shows and interviewed Guruji to unfold memories and experiences from his life. His experiments with semi-classical and thematic music led to his contributions towards film, television, and theatre through recordings and performances alike. He has made several lecture and demonstrations in schools, colleges, universities to promote Indian classical music.
